Orgonon Trails

Funding for recent trail improvements was provided by the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), administered by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, and an AARP Community Challenge Grant dedicated to creating livable communities for people of all ages.

Explore the Orgonon Trails Open year-round from dawn to dusk, the Orgonon Trails system offers over two miles of hiking across the historic Orgonon Property—the home of the Wilhelm Reich Museum and Orgonon Camps. Whether you are looking for a casual walk or a woodland exploration, our network connects visitors to the diverse beauty of the Rangeley Lakes region.

The trails traverse the 200-acre property, winding through deep pine forests, crossing open fields with sweeping views, and passing landmarks such as the tomb of Wilhelm Reich. The outer loop extends to the serene Quimby Brook, offering a quiet spot for reflection.

Recent Improvements Thanks to a generous grant from the State of Maine Recreational Trails Program and an AARP Community Challenge Grant, the network has been extensively upgraded to improve accessibility and comfort.

Most significantly, we have replaced all old bog bridging in wet areas with durable new cedar planks, ensuring drier, safer footing. Hikers will also find a new trailhead parking area on Dodge Pond Road featuring an information kiosk with maps, as well as new live-edge cedar benches and picnic tables for resting.
