“Wilhelm Reich on the Biosocial Nature of the Human Animal”

A live streamed talk by Martin D. Goldberg, with questions from participants

(Spanish translation provided)

Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3PM ET

This talk is about Reich’s basic teachings of what he called the “biosocial” nature of the human animal: the way in which people are biological and social creatures at one and the same time; how our fundamental status as social animals is part of the natural world; and why this is important to understand. The presentation refocuses attention on Reich’s thinking about the essence of human nature and society in light of his understanding of orgone energy, distinguishing it from much which has been written about Reich and socio-politics, right and left.

Marty began reading Reich in the early 1970s, when he was an undergraduate in History at Reed College and UCLA.
